Millennial generations are people or individuals born between 1981 and 1996 and are usually between 23 and 38. Also, known as the members of Generation Y (Gen Y) The generation makes up the fastest developing segment of the workforce in society. They are Tech-savvy or digital native’s generation that mostly relies on technology in doing their task. Smartphones, social media, internet are their order of the day. Also, they are associated with the negative impacts of technology, like poor social skillsand laziness. The millennial are absorbed by their laptops and tablets and the expense of physical exercises. However, they are also the most creative and adaptive generations, especially in their lines of careers. The tech-savvy youths sharing information using their phones.

Who are the baby boomers?

Baby boomers are persons or individuals born between 1946 to 1964 and are currently between the ages of 56-74 years. They emerged after World War II when the birth rates spiked across the world. The blow-up of the new infantsbecame known as the ‘baby boom.’ Baby boomers make up a substantial portion of the world's population, more so in the developed nations.Baby boomers are characterized as social reformers, workaholics, skeptics, thrill-seekers, lifelong learners, and authority questions. They make the biggest consumers of traditional media like radio, television, newspapers, and magazines. However, they have begun to adopt technology to stay in touch with the millennial generation and connection with family members, friends, and relatives.Most of them are not affected by negative impacts of technologysince they are used to operate without technology before.

a) Loyalty

Baby boomers are the most loyal employees to their different companieswith the highest job satisfaction. How and why? In most cases, boomers are seen as the individuals gearing up to enjoy a comfortable retirement. So what do they need if not to concentrate on creating a good legacy while they are gone?They are full of what others will say about them. Therefore, they would remain very loyal to their company, give all they canuntil they leave. On the other hand, if you ask most millennials what they will do if they're offered the same job at another company, you will probably be shocked. Reason? Millennials are loyal to what they are doing. They often bounce from place to place, searching for a greener pasture- always in the run for better options.Moreover, millennials are seen as a relentless generation in search of meaning. They believe they can only find meaning in what they are doing to become where their loyalty lies. To them, the experience is a sense of purpose, not the company they are working for. Besides, millennials are the most dissatisfied generation. They tend to compare their pay level to their peers, and most think they are fairly rewarded.

Millennials associates authority with significant contributions to their companies.They value hard work to control others regardless of age, relevant experience, or duration taken in the company. They believe what they manage to do should result in promotions and additional bonuses. For the baby boomers, they believe that experience is the king of authority in any workforce. Working in a company for a longer time would meanthey have control over other new on boards. It’s not necessarily how well someone severs the company but rather how long the individual has served.To them, a commitment of time should earn them promotion and authority but not how well one has contributed to tasks.

Most baby boomers are team-oriented due to their strong sense of community.Their association and social make them successful in group tasks or projects whereextensive communications and association with their coworkersare needed. On the other hand, working in groups for millennials may be unnecessary. Most of them are individualistic and prefer or strive to work alone in achieving a task. They value self-achievements and owning work. They struggle to form meaningful relationships with others. They only believed in finding everything using their phones and the internet. These come out as negative impacts of technology on millennial work styles and habits.

In response, emails, voicemails, online newsletters, intranet, and instant messages have stolen the show. Better still, the emergence of electronic communication has ensured increased relationships. Take, for instance, the social media platforms where people meet and interact freely. One can see and discuss with his/her family, friends, or relatives from different parts of the world through platforms like Skype, among others.

Advancements in technology have made our society safer. Business or organizations, homes, and individuals can protect all their documents, data, and surroundings by applying security devices or softwareavailable in the market. Most organizations or individuals have moved fromemploying guards to the installation of CCTV cameras around their premises. People do have tolock their doors or arm their security systems remotely. However, the advancements provide an opportunity to have mobile automated locks or the digital switch. Many companies complained of data or document loss and data access by authorized persons. However, with technological advancements, individuals and companies can encrypt their data. This makes it hard for an authorized people to get access or retrieve the information making them safer. Additionally, fingerprint technology has replaced passwords, meaning the security of personal computers is granted. People might be able to guess a password, but it will be hard to have reproduced a fingerprint.


With the right technology, any organization or business would vastly improve its overall efficiency, performance, and production. Most companies have incorporated some technological innovations to attract skills/talents and increase efficiencies in staying relevant and competitive. For instance, the arrival of artificial intelligence like chatbots is used as a customer’s representative in dealing withclient’s questions. This would save time and effort as there is limited human labor required. Technology helps improve the way company staff carry out a task. It speeds up the processes and provides more flexible ways of doing jobs. For instance, through rich communications channels, technology will ensure a companies' staff stays connected throughout the task's execution. Technological advancements are experienced in almost all fieldsof human lives. Mostly, it impacts positively on individuals. However, some negative impacts have also been noticed, like isolation, depression, and anxiety. The negative impacts, however, can never outweigh the positive effects. Technological advancements have seenemotional distance between people reduced with communication while saving on time and money. Also, different businesses have enjoyed improved efficiency, boosted security, and an unlimited supply of information, among other importance.
